Renewing Democracy through fact based decision making and policies

In a rational world, it would seem obvious that governmental policies ought to be based on sound science, and informed by fact. Unfortunately, the Harper brand of Conservatism seems to base policy on ideology only.

John Dupuis in his blog “Confessions of a Science Librarian” writes “a brief chronology of the current Conservative Canadian government’s long campaign to undermine evidence-based scientific, environmental and technical decision-making. It is a government that is beholden to big business, particularly big oil, and that makes every attempt to shape public policy to that end. It is a government that fundamentally doesn’t believe in science.” http://scienceblogs.com/confessions/2013/05/20/the-canadian-war-on-science-a-long-unexaggerated-devastating-chronological-indictment/
